Chapter 4
Love of Money and Righteousness in the Household
1 Love of money is the root of all evils. Since we know that we brought nothing into the world and can take nothing out of it, let us arm ourselves with the weapons of righteousness and teach ourselves first to walk in the Lord’s commandment.
2 And likewise our women, in the faith and love and purity given to them, loving their own husbands in all truth and loving all people equally with complete self-control, and to train their children in the discipline of the fear of God.
3 Widows who are prudent concerning the faith of the Lord, interceding without ceasing for all, far removed from all slander, gossip, false witness, love of money, and every vice, knowing that they are an altar of God and that all things are scrutinized, and nothing hidden from him—neither thoughts nor intentions nor anything of the secrets of the heart.
