Enoch

Antediluvian 1 work

Enoch, the seventh from Adam, was the antediluvian patriarch who 'walked with God; and he was not, for God took him' (Genesis 5:24), and to whom the Epistle of Jude ascribes a prophecy of the Lord's coming in judgement (Jude 14–15).

The Book of Enoch (1 Enoch) is transmitted under his name as a revelation of the fall of the Watchers, heavenly journeys, and the coming judgement; it survives complete in Ge'ez with Greek and Aramaic fragments and was esteemed by several early Fathers. (Modern scholars regard it as a composite work of the Second Temple period.)
