Chapter 116

¹ Now if anyone wishes to read about him in fuller detail, these matters have been set forth more clearly in another book, so that we need not treat the subject concerning him a second time.

² But for now, with regard to the matter before us, we will speak about the beast that is presently at hand.

³ For Daniel speaks thus: “And the angel said to me: The fourth beast will be a fourth kingdom on the earth, which will surpass all the kingdoms, and it will devour all the earth and trample it down and cut it in pieces. And its ten horns are ten kings who will arise, and after them another will arise, who will exceed all those before him in evils, and he will speak words against the Most High and will lead astray the saints of the Most High and will plan to change times and law; and it will be given into his hand until a time and times and half a time. And the court sat, and they will remove his dominion, to abolish and destroy it utterly; and the kingdom and the authority and the greatness of the kings under the whole heaven was given to the saints of the Most High, and his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions will serve and obey him. Thus far is the end of the matter.”
