Chapter 130

1 And that these things came to pass truly, just as has been said, Daniel himself testifies.

2 For he speaks thus: And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel, saw the vision and sought understanding, that behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man, and I heard the voice of a man between the Ubal, and he called and said: Gabriel, give that man understanding of the vision. And he came and stood close by where I stood, and when he came I was terrified and fell upon my face, and he said to me: Understand, son of man, for the vision is for the time of the end. And as he spoke with me I was terrified and fell upon my face to the ground, and he touched me and set me upon my feet and said: Behold, I make known to you the things that shall be at the last of the wrath; for the vision is for the time of the end. The ram which you saw, having the horns, is the king of the Persians and Medes; and the he-goat of the goats is the king of the Greeks; and the great horn that was between its eyes is the first king. And as for the one that was broken, in whose place four horns stood up, four kings shall arise out of his nation, but not in his strength. And at the last of their kingdom, when their sins are fulfilled, there shall arise a king shameless of face and skilled in riddles, and his strength shall be mighty, yet not by his own strength, and he shall destroy wonderfully and shall prosper and shall act, and he shall destroy the mighty and the holy people, and the yoke of his collar shall prosper. Deceit shall be in his hand, and in his heart he shall be magnified, and by deceit he shall destroy many, and he shall stand for the destruction of many, and he shall crush them like eggs in the hand. And the vision of the evening and the morning that was spoken is true; and you, seal up the vision, for it is for many days. And I, Daniel, fell asleep and was sick, and I rose up and did the king’s business, and I marveled at the vision, and there was none that understood.
