Chapter 132
1 These things, then, he recounts, confessing in the person of the people, declaring the sins of the people and of their fathers, who did not listen to his servants the prophets, who were sent to them to speak in the name of the Lord.
2 And as he was setting forth all his supplication in humility and fasting and sackcloth, the angel Gabriel was sent to him, that he might give him understanding concerning the things he was seeking.
3 For Daniel speaks thus: And while I was still speaking and praying and confessing my sins and the sins of my people, and casting down my plea for mercy before the Lord my God concerning the holy mountain—while I was still speaking in prayer, behold, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, came flying, and touched me about the hour of the evening sacrifice, and gave me understanding, and spoke with me and said: Daniel, now I have come forth to instruct you in understanding; at the beginning of your supplication a word went forth, and I have come to declare it to you, for you are a man of desires.
