Chapter 47

After these things, what does Daniel say? A stone was cut without hands, and it struck the image.

Since, then, the iron has been mingled with the clay and has passed to the tips of the toes, and men have become discordant with one another, what remains to be awaited but Christ coming from the heavens, as a stone cut from a mountain, that he may remove the kingdoms of this world and raise up the heavenly kingdom of the saints, which shall not be destroyed forever—himself becoming the mountain and the city of the saints, filling all the earth?

And for this reason the blessed Daniel said: “And after the end of those days the God of heaven will raise up a kingdom which shall not be destroyed forever, and his kingdom shall not be left to another people.”

So that no one might disbelieve the things spoken, whether indeed these things will truly be or not, the prophet set his seal upon them, saying: “And the dream is true, and its interpretation is sure.”
