Chapter 73
1 “Nebuchadnezzar the king, to all the peoples, tribes, and tongues that dwell in all the earth: may peace be multiplied to you. The signs and wonders which God has wrought with me it has pleased me to declare before you, how great and mighty they are: his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is to generation and generation. I, Nebuchadnezzar, was prospering in my house and flourishing. I saw a dream, and it frightened me, and I was troubled upon my bed, and the visions of my head confounded me. And by me a decree was issued to bring in before me all the wise men of Babylon, that they might make known to me the interpretation of the dream. And there came in the magicians, the soothsayers, the Chaldeans; and I told the dream before them, and they did not make known to me its interpretation, until Daniel came, whose name is Belshazzar according to the name of my god, who has the spirit of the holy God in himself. To him I said: Belshazzar, chief of the enchanters, of whom I know that the spirit of the holy God is in you, and no mystery is beyond your power, hear the dream which I saw, and tell me its interpretation.”
