§ 206. General Overview
The corporate life of the Church manifests itself in monasticism and in the church brotherhoods. The aim of monasticism is to afford individual persons the possibility of attaining the greatest possible moral perfection, subduing the body and lifting up their spirit toward heaven; the task of the church brotherhoods, on the other hand, is that, through the joint action of many, certain established aims be attained which concern the advancement of the Church and her institutions, and the moral good of society.
