The Light of His Face and the Theology of Negation
1 28. And again the same: The light of the Lord’s face, which overpowered the energy of human nature, prefigured to the blessed apostles the manner of the mystical theology that is by negation—according to which the blessed and holy divinity is, in its essence, beyond all utterance and beyond all knowledge, and is raised infinitely beyond all infinity, leaving to those who come after it not even the barest trace of apprehension.
