On the Source of Deification

1 39. The same, being asked how he who is beyond all is above divine-source and above good-source: If, he says, you should conceive of divinity and goodness, it is the very substance of the good-working gift, and the inimitable imitation of him who is beyond God and beyond good, according to which we are deified and made good. For if this becomes a principle of being deified and made good for those who are deified and made good, he who is above every principle is also beyond what is so called divinity and goodness, as being divine-source and good-source.
