Testimony of St. Athanasius the Great

¹ 33. For thus also the great Athanasius says, that no one of men can anywhere see the bare essence of God. Whence it is plain that the saints did not behold the essence of God, but the glory, as is also written concerning the apostles, that Peter and those with him, having kept awake, saw his glory.
