The Reading of the Eastern Letters Is Proposed
1 And when all the sacred synod had taken pleasure in what had been said, and had proclaimed acclamations to Photios, the most holy patriarch, the most holy vicars of elder Rome said: If it seems good to your reverence, let the letters of the Eastern thrones also be read. The holy synod said: Let them be read. And so Kosmas, the most God-fearing presbyter and legate of Michael, the most holy pope of Alexandria, having entered and bearing the letters conveyed by him, delivered them to Photios, the most holy patriarch. From among them Photinos, the most God-beloved deacon and chartophylax, taking one—that addressed to the Christ-loving emperor—read it.
