Peter the Cardinal Proposes the Reading of the Commonitorium
1 Peter, the most God-fearing presbyter and cardinal, said: You fulfill the gospel saying which declares: “I seek not my own glory; there is one who seeks and judges.” But the times have proved these matters. If it seems good to this holy and most peaceful synod, let there also be read the commonitory given to us, that is, the mandate, from the most holy and ecumenical Pope John, in which all our hierarchs and bishops have also subscribed. The holy synod said: Let it be read. And Peter, the most God-fearing presbyter and cardinal, rising, read it through Leo the protospatharios and interpreter.
