On the Reasons for the Coming of Jesus Christ Into the World
The reasons for the coming of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, into the world are:
1. God’s love for the human race: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son” (John 3:16).
2. The restoration in fallen humanity of the image and likeness of God, as the Holy Church sings: “Him who was corrupted by transgression and fell away from the divine image, who had fallen into utter corruption and was stripped of the better divine life, the wise Creator renews anew.”
3. The salvation of human souls: “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him” (John 3:17).
Therefore, following the purpose of our Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ, we must direct our lives in accordance with His divine teaching, so that through this we may obtain salvation for our souls.
