Chapter 14

We believe. that in those that are not regenerated free-will* is dead; they being in no wise able to do what is good; and whatever they do is sin; but in those that are regenerated by the All-holy Spirit, free-will is revived, and operateth, yet not without the assistance of grace. So, therefore, for a regenerated man to do what is good, it is necessary that he be guided and prevented by grace,t without which he is wounded, and hath as many stripes as he received from the robbers who went down from Jerusalem to Jericho; so that he is of himself powerless, and able to do nothing.
