220. The Lord Is Delivered to Pilate. Mt. 27:1–2; Mk. 15:1; Lk. 22:66–71; 23, 1; Jn. 18:28

As soon as day came, early in the morning the elders of the people, the high priests, and the scribes gathered together, and the whole Sanhedrin convened and took counsel to put the Lord to death. They brought him into their Sanhedrin and said: Tell us, are you the Christ? He said to them: If I tell you, you will not believe; and if I also ask you, you will not answer me or release me. From now on the Son of Man will sit at the right hand of the Power of God.

They all said to him: Are you then the Son of God? He answered them: You say that I am. And they said: Why do we need further testimony? For we ourselves have heard it from his own mouth.

Then the whole multitude of them rose up, and binding the Lord Jesus, they led him from Caiaphas to the praetorium, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate, the governor.
