232. Darkness; the Fourth Word—a Cry to God the Father. Mt. 27:45–47; Mk. 15:33–35; Lk. 23:44–45

It was about the sixth hour of the day; and at the sixth hour darkness came over the whole land and lasted from the sixth hour until the ninth hour; and the sun was darkened.

At the ninth hour the Lord Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying: Eli, Eli! Eloi, Eloi! lamma sabachthani? Which means: My God, my God! Why have you forsaken me?

Some of those who stood there, hearing this, said: Behold, he is calling for Elijah.
