Just as many have undertaken to compile accounts of the events that have been fully established among us, as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the Word have delivered them to us, so it seemed good to me also, having investigated everything carefully from the beginning, to write it out in order for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the firm foundation of the teachings in which you have been instructed.
