The Timeframe—According to One’s Strength and Diligence

Do not set a time for the progress needed in this prayer. Only decide to labor and labor. Months and years will pass before weak signs of progress appear. One of the Athos elders said of himself that two years of labor passed before his heart grew warm; for another it came after eight months. For everyone this occurs according to their strength and diligence in this matter. (22, 212)
