It is a Feeling Toward God That Does Not Depart, Needing No Words
Have you heard that there is unceasing prayer? Long for it and seek it. You will seek and you will find. Its seeds already exist in you: this is the feeling toward God that comes at times. For you it was once strong; but you allowed it to grow cold. And it comes at times still. Seek to make this feeling constant—and that will be unceasing prayer… May the Lord help you find such a feeling toward Him. Then an end to all negligence, sluggishness, and sloth!!! (6, 212)
The feeling that the soul is drawn toward the Lord is hidden prayer, and it alone can take the place of prayer words… For it is unceasing prayer itself! (8, 238)
Watchfulness must be continuous, as unceasing prayer is continuous. Both take root in the soul when a feeling toward God is planted in the heart—warm, sweet, reverent, suffused with the fear of God. (8, 242)
The mind, standing in the heart, beholds God and confesses to Him noetically through invocation of His name… The feeling toward God is unceasing prayer without words. (10, 221)
May the Lord grant you unceasing prayer of the heart, which has no need of words, but stands by itself and is pleasing to God and fruitful for the soul. (23, 244)
