Chapter 16
Life of the Prophet Hosea
1 Hosea is interpreted “one who is saved.” He was from Beelaim, of the tribe of Issachar; and he gave a portent that the Lord would come upon the earth, dwelling among men:[1] And the oak that is in Shiloh shall be divided into twelve parts, and there shall be twelve oaks, to hearken and to follow the God who appeared upon the earth; and through him all the earth shall be saved. And thus, having died, he was buried in his own land.
