Chapter 118
1 Every person, therefore, who reads the divine Scriptures must imitate the prophet Daniel and not be rash and headstrong, seeking the season before its season and desiring to see the unripe figs of the fig tree, but rather hold fast the mystery of God in the heart with fear, lest, ensnared by his own lips through his own doing, he become liable for his own soul.
2 For the time will come when the almond tree will blossom and the caper will swell and the locust will multiply and the fig tree will bud and the fruits of apostasy will advance. Then the door of life will be shut and the pitcher will be shattered at the spring and the wheel will run upon the cistern and the grinding women will cease, because they have grown few; and all will be roused at the voice of the sparrow, and all the daughters of song will be troubled, and the mourners will gather in the marketplace, and a man will depart to his eternal home.
