Chapter 157
This man, proclaimed king by them and glorified by all and become the abomination of desolation for the world, will hold power for one thousand two hundred and ninety days; as Daniel also says: “And they shall set up the abomination of desolation a thousand two hundred and ninety days. Blessed is he who endures and attains to a thousand three hundred and thirty-five days.”
For when the abomination is present and making war on the saints, whoever passes beyond his days and draws near to a further forty-five days, when the fiftieth is drawing near, has attained to the kingdom of heaven.
For the Antichrist comes within the part of the fiftieth, since he is destined to inherit the kingdom together with Christ.
And for this reason Isaiah says: “Let the ungodly one be taken away, that he may not see the glory of the Lord.”
And Paul says in his letter to the Thessalonians: “whom the Lord Jesus will slay with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by the appearing of his coming”; but the kingdom the saints are destined to inherit together with Christ.
