Chapter 6
1 Now the beginning of the book is this: In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it. And the Lord gave into his hand Jehoiakim king of Judah, and a portion of the vessels of the house of God; and he carried them off into the land of Shinar, to the house of his god.
2 These things, then, the Scripture thus recounts, in order to signify the captivity that befell the people, when Jehoiakim the son of Eliakim (who is also Jehoiakim) was deported, together with the three youths who were with him, taken captive along with Daniel.
3 And thus Jehoiakim becomes the husband of Susanna.
