Chapter 5
For the Scripture says: And there was a man dwelling in Babylon, and his name was Joakim; and he took a wife whose name was Susanna, the daughter of Hilkiah, exceedingly beautiful and fearing the Lord. And her parents were righteous, and they taught their daughter according to the law of Moses.
Now this history happened later, but it was written first in the book; for it was the custom of the scribes to set down many things out of their chronological order in the Scriptures.
For we find also among the prophets certain visions that occurred first and were fulfilled at the last, and again others spoken of as belonging to the last things yet occurring first.
And this came about by the dispensation of the Spirit, so that the devil might not understand the things spoken by the prophets in parables and, ensnaring man a second time, again put him to death.
