199. The Last Supper: The Preparation of the Paschal Meal. Mt. 26:17–19; Mk. 14:12–16; Lk. 22:7–13; Jn. 13:1

Just before the feast of the Passover, on the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they were slaughtering the Passover lamb, the disciples came to the Lord Jesus and said to Him: Where do you wish us to go and prepare for You to eat the Passover? We will go and make ready. And the Lord sent two of His disciples, Peter and John, saying to them: Go and prepare the Passover for us to eat. And they said to Him: Where do you wish us to prepare?

The Lord said to them: Go into the city; and behold, when you enter the city, you will meet a man carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he goes, and say to the master of that house: The Teacher says to you: My time is near; I shall keep the Passover at your house with My disciples. Where is the room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples? And he will show you a large upper room, furnished and ready; there prepare for us.

And these disciples went, and came into the city, and found it as He had said to them: they did all as the Lord had commanded them, and prepared the Passover.
