243. Guards Placed at the Tomb. Mt. 27:62–66
Meanwhile, on that same day—the day after Friday (in the evening)—the chief priests and Pharisees gathered to Pilate and said: Sir! we remember that that impostor said, while he was still alive, After three days I will rise. Therefore command that the tomb be guarded until the third day, lest his disciples come by night and steal him away, and tell the people, He has risen from the dead. And the last deception will be worse than the first.
Pilate said to them: You have a guard; go, guard it as you know how.
They went and posted a guard at the tomb and sealed the stone.
(This was when the women had already departed from Golgotha.)
