Chapter 69
You Must Pray for a Long Time
“I can’t pray for a long time.” But how, then, did the apostle command: Pray without ceasing (1 Thess. 5:17)?!
Remembrance of God with fear of God, love for God with hope, and surrender to God’s will make up the inner religious life. Whoever has this in motion is always with God. And for him it is not tedious to pray for a very long time.—You have a seed of this in the fact that you turn to God for help in every circumstance and then give thanks. Develop this—ever wider and wider.
