Prayer of the Mind in the Heart Transitions to Unceasing Prayer When Inner Drawings Become Constant

Prayer of the mind in the heart then gains independence and appears sometimes as worked at, strained by its own efforts, sometimes as self-moving, coming of itself. In the latter form it is the same as the shown inner drawings: it occurs alongside them and develops from them. When the state in which the soul is during those drawings then becomes constant, prayer of the mind in the heart becomes ceaselessly active. (16, 43–44)
