Chapter 65
What it Means to “Kindle Danger Around Yourself”
You ask what it means to “kindle danger around yourself.” It is a deep feeling of the danger of your position, and danger of the utmost kind, from which there is no other salvation except in the Lord Jesus Christ. This feeling will drive us to the Lord and force us to cry out without ceasing: “Help me, protect me!” All the saints had this feeling and it never abandoned them. Its opposite is the feeling of contentment with one’s position, which lulls a person and extinguishes in him all care for salvation. (5, 6)
