Chapter 63

While the Mind is Entering the Heart, Do Nothing Else

Do this: when you feel the mind entering the heart and the action of prayer, give full freedom to such prayer, removing everything unfavorable to it; and while it continues—do nothing else. When you do not feel such an attraction, then pray with spoken prayer and prostrations, striving in every way to keep attention in your heart before the face of the Lord. Your heart will warm even in this way of praying. (10, 228–229)
