Chapter 106

Without Remembrance of God There Will Be No Spiritual Life

You must remember God. You must bring this to the point where the thought of God becomes intimate with and merged into your mind, and heart, and consciousness. To establish such remembrance and such a thought, you must labor on yourself without sloth. Labor — God will give, and you will achieve it; do not labor — and you will not achieve it. And if you do not achieve this, nothing will come of you; you will not gain any progress in spiritual life; indeed, you will have no spiritual life at all, for this is what spiritual life is. See how essentially important this is! (2, 181)
