The Meeting of the Lord. Tuesday (Jude 1:1–10; Lk. 22:39–42, 45; 23:1)

At the Meeting of the Lord, He is surrounded on one side by righteousness that awaits salvation not in itself—Simeon—and by a life of strict fasting and prayer animated by faith—Anna; and on the other side by essential, all-encompassing, and unshakeable purity—the Virgin Theotokos—and by humble, silent submission and surrender to the will of God—Joseph the Betrothed. Transfer all these spiritual dispositions into your own heart, and you will meet the Lord—not being brought to Him, but coming to you of His own accord; you will receive Him in the embrace of your heart and will sing a song that will pass through the heavens and gladden all the angels and saints.
