Cheesefare Sunday (Rom. 13:11–14:4; Mt. 6:14–21)
“If you forgive people their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; but if you do not forgive people their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses” (Mt. 6:14–15). What a simple and ready means of salvation! Your sins are forgiven you on the condition that you forgive the transgressions of your neighbor against you. The matter, then, is in your own hands. Break yourself, and move from feelings of discord toward your brother to feelings of sincere peace—and that is all there is to it. Forgiveness Sunday—what a great and heavenly day of God! If we all made use of it as we ought, this day would turn Christian communities into communities of paradise, and earth would merge with heaven.
