The readings are offered concerning creation, the primordial state, the fall, and the promise of salvation in our Lord Jesus Christ. Pay attention and take it to heart! Now is the time of your re-creation. Draw near to the Lord, and He will give you the light that will illuminate the darkness of your sin; He will set a firmament amid the warring thoughts and sinful desires of your heart—a good resolve to serve Him firmly and unwaveringly; He will arrange the dry land and the sea and give everything in you its proper place. Then you will begin to put forth first herbs and grasses and trees—the first fruits of virtue—and afterward living creatures—wholly spiritual and God-pleasing deeds—until at last the image and likeness of God is restored in you, as you were created in the beginning. All of this the Lord will accomplish in you during these six days of spiritual creation—your days of fasting and prayer—if you pass through them with attentiveness, reverence, and contrition of heart.
