Saint Theophylact of Ohrid (ca. 1050 – after 1120), Archbishop of the Bulgarian church, composed the most comprehensive New Testament exposition in the Byzantine tradition — a lemma-by-lemma commentary on all four Gospels, Acts, the Pauline and Catholic Epistles, and five Old Testament Minor Prophets. Rooted in Chrysostom's tradition, they have been praised as "the finest works of their sort after St. John Chrysostom" and have served Orthodox readers for nine centuries. This edition collects thirty-one of those commentaries in modern English.
