Commonitorium, Chapter 5

1 Chapter 5. Rising, say to him: Our lord, the most holy pope, commands that all who are in various places in exile, whether bishops or presbyters or any others, who until the present have not been willing to be in communion with you, may through your labor be united to the Church of God and become one with you. And when they come, he shall receive them as a father receives his children, and admonish them often, that for the peace of the Church of God they may be of one mind with the apostolic see, and hold fast their will together with it, receiving Photios the most holy patriarch, or becoming partakers in communion with him. And as for those received: as many as were ordained beforehand, that they may recover their thrones; but those ordained later, that they may have from the same bishops sufficient sustenance and clothing.
