Chapter 128

Do Not Seek Extraordinary Experiences

What should be sought through prayer is the establishment in the heart of a quiet but warm feeling toward God that does not depart; extraordinary experiences and special movements should not be sought; but when God sends special prayerful feelings, be grateful for them, do not claim them as your own, and do not grieve when they depart as if at some great loss, but always humbly return from them to the quiet feeling toward the Lord.
