The First Gift to the Mind—concentration of Attention in Prayer

To the measure of our diligence and humble striving in prayer, God grants the first gift to our mind—concentration and focus in prayer. When attention to the Lord becomes inseparable, then it is grace-filled attention; but our own attention is always forced. (10, 227)
