Chapter 76
When a Person Does Everything With Full Awareness and Attention
With such a heart-condition [the union of mind with heart], everything from the head moves inward to the heart for a person, and then as it were a certain noetic light illuminates his entire interior, and whatever he does, says, or thinks, all is done with full awareness and attention. He can then clearly see what thoughts, intentions, and desires come to him and readily compels his mind, heart, and will to obedience to Christ, to the fulfillment of every commandment of God and the fathers; and any turning away from them he effaces with the feeling of heart-felt repentance and contrition with genuine sorrow and with contrite humble supplication before God, asking and awaiting help from above for his weakness. And God, seeing such humility in him, does not deprive him of His grace. (10, 228)
